Life During Lockdown

The dawn of every new year and especially a new decade instills hope and aspirations among people to take up new activities, travel to unique cities and countries, or try to improve their personalities and transform into much better versions of themselves. No one had envisioned the possibility of having their plans and resolutions cut short while the world was thrown into pandemonium by a minuscule virus. Fast forward to today and we find that nearly half of humanity has been confined to their respective homes to resolve a crisis that has been described as one of the worst since the 2nd World War. 

As bad as it sounds, it is not the end of the road for most of us. As human beings, we learn to survive and thrive by adapting to various situations. New technologies and Internet surfing have seen an exponential rise over these past few months. Educational courses and other genres like fitness, music & entertainment, performing & creative arts have all chosen the online route. This time has also brought us closer to our loved ones and also helped us in finding solace and solitude among ourselves. With the advent of social distancing and lockdown norms being imposed across the world, Nature has slowly begun reclaiming its territories with birds and animals returning back to their original habitats. All these actions provoke a single thought in my mind: Have we all been so focused on developing the world and satiating our greed to acquire wealth that we ended up demolishing rather than coexisting?

Group activities with our best buddies such as watching movies, eating at cafes or restaurants, or maybe catching some sporting action would never remain the same post lockdown. Until that day comes, all that remains is hope and faith to pull through this crisis successfully.

Before I conclude my blog, I'd like to pay my respects and gratitude to the people who work tirelessly throughout the day risking their own lives in order to fight the crisis and keep the economy running.
